Serological and molecular investigation of canine influenza virus in Plateau State, Nigeria

چکیده

Canine influenza is a highly contagious respiratory infection of dogs caused by the Influenza A Virus (IAV), characterized cough, sneeze, nasal secretions, and inappetence. Infections can be mild, severe or fatal. Aquatic birds constitute natural reservoir for IAV, which transmitted to terrestrial birds, including poultry. IAV has also emerged in other mammalian species, humans, swine, horses, dogs. epidemics are recent development. Commonly detected (CIV) strains A/H3N2 A/H3N8 from avian equine influenza, respectively. Nigeria’s agro-ecology witnessed widespread circulation since 2006, outbreaks 2018/2019 raise possibility inter-species transmission To investigate canine Plateau State, we collected 113 swabs 270 sera samples clinics, live dog markets, during vaccination campaigns. After extracting nucleic acid with Qiagen kit, RT-PCR analysed matrix gene. Sera were screened Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay before subtyping cross-section H3 antibody Hemagglutination Inhibition. No gene was amplified extracted swabs. Though few reactive nucleoprotein, none positive A/H3. The H3N8 strain virus first an epidemic 1999 United States. Subsequently, avian-origin H3N2 CIV China South Korea 2005. Past arose single cross-species subtype intermediate host reservoir. Even though this limited investigation did not detect potential remains because persistent avian, Nigeria, requires more extensive virological serological surveillance.

Molecular and Serological Detection of Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) in Rural Dogs, Iran

Background and Aims: Canine distemper (CD) is a deadly infectious disease of Canidae family. CD is a multi-systemic viral disease and is specified by wide range of clinical symptoms. The manifestations are not always indicative of CD, therefore a laboratory confirmation is necessary for suspected cases. Materials and Methods: Different clinical specimens of 19 CD suspected unvaccinated dogs wer...

Molecular and Immunological Investigation of Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) and Its Co- Infection with Canine Parainfluenza Virus Type 2

Background and Objective: Canine distemper (CD) is a highly transmissible serious disease of carnivores. Distemper virus has immunosuppression effects, which, in turn, could lead to opportunistic infections. The present study was performed to detect CDV by the genomic and immunological methods and investigate its co- infection with canine parainfluenza virus type 2 (CPiV-2). Materials and Meth...

Serological Investigation of H9N2 Avian Influenza Virus in Slaughtered Water Buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis) in Khuzestan, Iran

The aim of the present was to evaluate the prevalence of H9N2-specific antibodies among water buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis). To this end, blood samples were obtained from 80 randomly selected water buffaloes, 40 cases of which were obtained in the winter months, and 40 cases were sampled in the spring months. The presence of H9N2-specific antibody was determined by hemaggl...

Serological and Molecular Detection of Akabane Virus in Iran

The present study was conducted on sixty healthy female domestic ruminants that suffered from still births or abortion, to find sero-positive cases and also to determine the probable role of uterine tissue in diagnosis of akabane viral infection and viral persistency. Because of this, a serological test (ELISA) and molecular (RT-PCR) diagnostic methods were used to find the seropositive cases a...
